Preface

今天,万小程们怀着激动的心情迎来了本学期第五次CLE课程,通过前几次的学习,相信我们都收获颇丰。这次课由克里斯多夫教授为我们讲授:“什么是文化”和“什么是全球文化”两个话题,让我们对文化又有了更多的认识与思考,也让我们意识到跨文化交际的重要性。

Today, CHEI Jr. are excited to welcome the fifth CLE course of this semester. We have gained a lot from the previous lectures. Senior lecturer Christopher mainly delivered two aspects, "what is culture" and "what is global culture", which made us have more understanding and thinking about culture. We realized the importance of cross-cultural communication.

   了解什么是文化以及文化知识、文化意识和文化的影响因素

   明白什么是全球文化和文化价值意识形态

★Be clear about whether global culture is Western culture and its impact on global business.

   清楚全球文化是否就是西方文化以及文化对全球商业的影响

Gains from Class

在这节CLE课程中,通过克里斯多夫讲师和助教张媛老师的耐心讲解,我们了解到什么是文化以及文化的全球化。文化是一个国家、一个民族的灵魂。文化是弥散性地渗透在生活的方方面面,文化是一种养成习惯的精神价值和生活方式,它表现形式之一是集体人格。老师们用迪士尼乐园来举例说明了文化全球化中的市场营销应该注意不同市场下的产品标准化和产品个性化的决策问题。在特定文化背景下的,对与错都是一个相对的概念,在一个社会被认为是道德的东西在另一个社会可能被认为是不道德的。所以我们要搞清楚全球化并非全盘西化论。作为酒店从业人员,当我们在为客人服务时,需要了解他们的不同文化背景。

In this course, we learn about culture and its globalization through the patient explanation of lecturer Christopher S Dutt and assistant lecturer Jessica. Culture is the soul of a country and a nation. Culture is the existence that diffusely penetrates in every aspects of life. Culture is a kind of spiritual value, formed habits and life style that, one of its features is collective personality. Two teachers used Disneyland as an example to illustrate that marketing in cultural globalization should pay attention to the decision of product standardization and product personalization in different markets Disneyland is used as an example to illustrate the cultural value ideology in cultural globalization. What is considered moral in one society may be considered immoral in another. So we have to make sure that globalization is not a total westernization. As hotel professionals, we need to understand the different cultural backgrounds of our guests when serving them.

Thoughts after Class

在达特教授和张媛老师耐心的讲解下,我们非常喜欢CLE课程,同学们不仅在小程序上的积极讨论,而且课堂气氛十分活跃。跨文化交际的策略之一就是要求同存异,尊重他国文化,也要为两国文化交流中起到积极的推动作用。老师们建议我们要多去从文化的全球化来思考经济的全球化和企业发展战略的影响。CLE课程不仅在刷新我们的现有知识体系,也在不断锻炼我们的思维与逻辑。

Under the patient explanation of Chris and Jessica, we enjoyed the CLE course very much. The CHEI Jr. not only discussed different topics actively, but also had an active online atmosphere. One of the strategies of cross-cultural communication is to seek common ground while reserving differences and respect other countries’ cultures, so as to play a positive role in promoting cultural exchanges between the two countries. Teachers suggest that we should think more about the impact of economic globalization and enterprise development strategy from the perspective of cultural globalization. CLE courses not only refresh our existing knowledge system, but also exercise our thinking and logic.
